The 7th PAPERTECH EXPO, also known as the 2026 Bangladesh Paper and Household Paper Technology Exhibition, is an international exhibition centered around the pulp and paper industry. It will be held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, from April 16th to 18th, 2026. The expo aims to promote joint ventures, create investment opportunities, and accelerate technology transfer to drive the comprehensive development of the paper industry. Since its inception, the Expo has continued to receive enthusiastic responses from around the world
The Bangladesh Paper and Household Paper Technology Exhibition is hosted by the Bangladesh Paper Technology Magazine and is the only pulp and paper industry exhibition in Bangladesh. Pulp and paper companies, paper equipment suppliers, paper chemical suppliers, as well as exhibitors in paper processing, trade, import and export fields from Bangladesh, China, India, the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries will participate in this exhibition. China Paper Magazine also participated in this exhibition and set up a booth.
Industry Focus: As the only pulp and paper industry exhibition in Bangladesh, it focuses on pulp, paper and related industries, covering the entire industry chain from paper machinery, paper chemicals to various paper products.
High international participation: It has attracted exhibitors and professional visitors from all over the world, providing a platform for communication and cooperation in the global paper industry.
Promoting cooperation and development: aimed at promoting joint ventures, creating investment opportunities, and accelerating technology transfer, promoting the comprehensive development of the paper industry. Exhibitors can negotiate cooperation and exchange experiences with elite paper-making enterprises from various countries through the exhibition, and strengthen trade connections with Bangladesh and the international market.
1、 Market size and growth potential
Market situation
The scale of the paper market in Bangladesh is about 50 billion taka (approximately 350 million RMB), with an annual growth rate of over 5%. Although the annual production capacity of domestic paper companies can reach 1.5 million tons, the actual output can only meet the local demand of about 600000 tons, and the remaining gap depends on imports. The per capita paper consumption is only 3.55 kilograms, far below the global average level (about 58 kilograms), and even less than 1.2% of mature markets (such as 300 kilograms per capita in European and American countries), which means that there is huge room for market growth.
2. Driving factors
Population and Economic Growth: The population of Bangladesh exceeds 170 million, and the economy is growing at an average annual rate of 6%, driving up demand for office paper, packaging paper, and household paper. For example, as a pillar industry, the clothing industry's export-oriented packaging demand directly drives the expansion of the packaging paper market.
Policy support: The government provides tax reductions and land leasing incentives through the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) policy to attract foreign investment into the paper industry. For example, Fujian Dianmo International Trade Co., Ltd. in China invested 5.74 million US dollars in Dhaka in 2023 to build a waste paper recycling packaging paper production line with an annual output of 180000 tons.
International Cooperation: The construction of China Bangladesh Joint Laboratories (such as the aid project of China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute) and international exhibitions (such as the Bangladesh Paper Science and Technology Expo) have promoted technology transfer and capacity improvement.
Enterprise distribution and production capacity
There are about 120 paper-making enterprises in the country, of which 85 are pulp or paper mills, mainly concentrated in Dhaka (55) and Chittagong (27). Leading enterprises include BASHUNDHARA GROUP (producing household paper and cultural paper) and Tanveer Paper (importing pulp to produce high-end paper products). Private enterprises dominate, but state-owned enterprises such as Kaptaka Napuli Paper Mill (KPM) are upgrading their production capacity through a 360 billion taka (approximately $3 billion) revival plan.
Technical and equipment bottlenecks
About 80% of papermaking equipment is second-hand or outdated, resulting in high energy consumption and low efficiency. For example, SunHong Paper Industry relies on Chinese experts to provide process improvement suggestions due to poor quality of waste paper raw materials and outdated equipment, resulting in a large amount of adhesive residue in its products. In addition, the shortage of skilled workers has exacerbated the difficulty of applying technology.
Paper making machinery and equipment: including pulp manufacturing machinery and accessories, paper making machinery and equipment, cardboard box machinery and equipment, components, auxiliary equipment and instruments, paper processing equipment, dewatering and pressing equipment, pumps, valves, cutting, pipelines and new technology equipment for paper making, energy-saving technology and equipment for paper making; There are also embossing machinery, handmade paper and its technology, heat recovery systems, ink, kraft paper lining, laminated materials, wet wipes, sanitary pads, diapers machinery, etc.
Paper products: various conventional consumables such as writing and printing paper, household paper, packaging paper, etc; It also includes packaging materials for paper products such as paper, cardboard boxes, cardboard, as well as various industrial and household paper, paper nets, etc.
Paper making chemicals: such as modified starch, sizing agents, dry/wet strength agents, fluorescent whitening agents, dyes, pigments, coating adhesives, functional paper making chemicals, process paper making chemicals, etc.
Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment: Showcase paper-making environmental protection and three waste treatment technologies and equipment, such as white water recovery technology and equipment, de ink technology and equipment, recycled paper utilization and processing and environmental protection treatment technology and equipment, reclaimed water reuse treatment, black liquor recovery technology and equipment, new technologies and equipment for paper-making three waste treatment and comprehensive utilization, etc.
